I just made a clean install of Windows 10 and it feels so great and fast, is there any tips to keep it performing smoothly?

Don't install any software, any updates or go on the internet.

This. To maintain a fast PC, you absolutely must not use it for what it's intended for.

Also, make sure to keep it unplugged

I'd argue never use a C: drive over 250 ish gigs, even if you have to partition down a larger ssd and store or install things whenever possible to D:. You'll be thankful when it comes time to reload Windows again.

And clean reinstall Windows 10 daily.

LOL! But seriously, now that your PC is clean and fast, snapshot its state with Macrium Reflect or some other imaging tool, so you can quickly restore it to this state later instead of having to do another clean Windows install manually.

that is not enough. over time it will build caches and shit
erase and redeploy the image every month

I know this comment above is a joke, but in all seriousness, keep your apps on a different partition and use portable versions of everything. If you can find a fairly high speed external storage interface use that.

Stupid question why does installing software slow down your computer? I mean when you're not running said software do you just need a ton of space?

My current PC is 2.5 years old and it is still fast and performing smoothly. Don't install unnecessary apps/programs/services/utilities you don't really need. limit the number of startup programs and system tray items to essential only, The more crap you install the more potential for problems/incompatibilities.

It's like every time you change a registry setting, install or uninstall an app, the telomeres of Windows DNA break down slowly killing it. Relatable.
level 2
Oh don't worry I won't because windows has already done that for me. It comes loaded with crap!
level 2
What type of apps do you consider are unnecessary? I use my PC, break my PC, fix my PC and start over again. Am I missing something? SMH!

Go through your installed programs every few months and make sure you still need everything. Files on disk do not slow down the system but unneeded processes running do. I ran windows XP for 7 years with no formatting, then 7 for 5 years, then 8 for 5 years. I've never had to format to "speed things back up". Don't install bloated shit haha. For your printer install only the driver, not their suite. For your motherboard use only the WHQL drivers, not their suite. Mostly... Just don't trust any vendor haha.

My tip is to do it again in a year or two.
level 2
I wonder how can people easily do that. I did a reinstallation one year ago. And before that I had to plan ahead several weeks: backup settings, choose what program to keep, backup data, backup and more backups. And after the migration I still had to keep the old system partition and files up until few months ago and finally could I pull the trigger deleting the legacy.
